The Beaches of Fort Myers Beach

I am listing the beaches and parks located Fort Myers Beach. Please visit the PARKS link for parks on the mainland in Fort Myers.

The beautiful beaches of Fort Myers Beach are all public!
Access roads provide metered parking and footpaths or boardwalks directly to the sand. The beaches are wide and powdery white. The waters are typically calm and warm, making swimming a safe and enjoyable activity.

The popular place to be is near the city pier with beach side dining, bars and lots of activities.

Newton Park and Seven Seas
located at 4610 Estero, is a beach side community gathering site with picnic tables, restrooms, a bocce ball court and grassy cabana. Built in 1953, the historic home of Jim and Ellie Newton, is rich in island history. The Newton’s extensive friendships with Thomas Edison, Henry Ford, Harvey Firestone, Charles Lindbergh, and others are recorded in Jim Newton’s book, “Uncommon Friends”.

Southern end of Estero Island, heading to Lovers Key

Lovers Key Beaches
Lover Key State Park is located over a bridge from the southern tip of Estero Island. Four barrier islands make up a 712 acre park. Aptly named Lovers Key due to its number of secluded and nearly private beaches. A popular beach is Dog Beach, located on the north side of Big Carlos Pass. Here you’ll enjoy the rambunctious antics of all breeds of dogs bounding through the sand and water! This pass is a favorite anchorage for boaters and fishermen. The park has an admission fee to use the main facilities, however there are many pull-offs from Estero Boulevard. Guided Ranger tours, special events such as photographer workshops or outings such as guided evening kayak tours are available. Visit the park website for current activities.

The beaches of Naples
Collier County is home to some of the most beautiful parks and recreations areas in Southwest Florida. A few are mentioned below with links to official websites for details, addresses, times of operation etc. I have included links for special wildlife tours and activities when possible. Just Scroll over the park titles and underlined words for links.

are far and away the most popular of all the natural attractions you'll find here in Southwest Florida. Naples, Florida beaches, like Vanderbilt Beach, Naples Municipal Beach at Naples Pier, and Lowdermilk Beach Park are the regions most populated with tourists and locals.

Barefoot Beach Preserve - Collier County Park
A beautiful 342 acre preserve and beach. Definitely worth the trip... and getting to it, takes you through one of the nicest private neighborhoods imaginable. Located on the western end of Bonita Beach, enter the park via Bonita Beach Road turning south onto Lely Barefoot Beach Blvd. At the entrance to the Boulevard is a guard gate for the Lely community... just drive through on your way to the Barefoot Beach Preserve. The park is an barrier island that includes many trails and boardwalks. Park Rangers conduct interpretive sessions and guided canoe tours. Wildlife and turtles can be abundant at times. Because Barefoot Beach is such a popular destination, it is possible that available parking could fill by mid afternoon during the busy season. Call 239.591.8596 for activity information.

Delnor-Wiggins Pass - State Park
This Florida State Park is located in Vanderbilt Beach, at the western end of Immokalee Road just south of where the Cocohatchee River empties into the Gulf of Mexico. The park is a lush wildlife habitat with mangroves covering 80% of the area. The park offers several shaded picnic and grilling areas along the length of the beach. A concession stand is available that offers food, drinks and beach items. A bathhouse is also available with changing stalls. Phone 239.597.6196.

Clam Pass - Collier County Park
This park is a popular beach access point in the North Naples area. It is located at the western end of Pine Ridge Road, at the intersection of Sea Gate & Crayton Road. There’s a beautiful three-quarter-mile long boardwalk that winds through the mangroves to the beach from the parking area. The boardwalk runs through a mangrove forest of salt-tolerant red, white and black mangroves. Lowdermilk Park - City of Naples Park
Lowdermilk Park is at the very northern end of the Naples City Beach, just off of Gulf Shore Blvd. It has about 1000 feet of footage on the coast and is very popular for picnics, sunset watching and general recreation. The landscaped area next to the beach has a playground facility, pavilion, bathhouse and a concession stand. The beach is a short walk from the parking area.

Naples Beach and Pier
The Naples City beach and Fishing Pier are a must see attraction. Originally built in 1888 as a freight train and passenger dock, it was destroyed by fire in 1922. Rebuilt and restored over the years, it is a symbol of the city. The Naples Fishing Pier is located at the west end of 12th Avenue South where plenty of parking is also available. The Pier is near the midway point of the Naples Beach where you can walk 3 miles south to Gordon Pass, or 3 miles north to Doctors Pass. The area is usually pretty lively and fun to see. A refreshment stand sits on the pier and restrooms are available. For an interesting video presentation of the Naples Pier: click here.
